I might have watched The Lion King countless of times and i still can recall the song "Hakuna Matata" which is an East African language that means "Not to Worry". It gives such a fun vibe that every time I face challenges or feel worried about something - i take a deep breath and say "Hakuna Matata".
During these times, it is just normal to be worried... We are humans therefore, we have emotions and worry is one of them. As an emotion, worry is experienced from anxiety or concern about a real or imagined issue often personal issues such as health or finances and nowadays - a general feeling of uncertainty. Though it has a positive and negative effect to us.
A mild amount of worrying have positive effects, if it prompts people to take precautions (e.g. wearing a face mask when buying necessities or washing your hands regularly), but with excessive worrisome people they overthink or magnify situations. Making them bigger of what they really are. Thus causing stress...
So if you are worried right now while reading this, take a deep breath and say "Hakuna Matata" we can get through this together .
Filipinos are generally sweet and caring. We even have a global reputation of the most friendly, hospitable and resilient people that in every corner of the world, there is one, two or even a community of Filipinos.
With the emergence of the new norm comes Social Distancing which says that we need to be at least 1 to 2 meters away from each other. It is very challenging for most of us because we are a beso beso and a hugging nation. But to ensure the safety of everyone including ourselves, we need to follow these protocols.
But Social Distancing doesn't mean that you need to distance yourself from others emotionally. Strengthen your relationships even more and create new ones. Use the power of technology. Send text messages everyday. Post inspiring quotes that uplift rather than share fake news. Create your family group chat in Facebook or Viber and share funny photos. Watch your favorite TV Shows. Cuddle your dogs and cats - or gold fish if you have one. Share jokes and laugh hard - even the corny ones. Send virtual hugs to your family and friends.
Virtual hugs to everyone :)
